Mexican Food Chain Goes Into Liquidation; Closes Three Stores

A struggling Mexican food chain is closing three of its New South Wales and ACT stores after going into liquidation.

4 Eyes Pty Ltd, formerly trading as Beach Burrito Company, went into liquidation on Monday, with the decision made to close Burrito Beach Co stores Newtown, Bondi, and Canberra.

External liquidators David Stimpson and Hugh Armenis of S V Partners have been appointed.

It follows the sale of the Newcastle store to another company.

“The combination of Covid, higher interest rates and poor weather conditions have been the major factors in the decision,” a company spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

There’s no word on the futures of the remaining stores in Cronulla, Coogee, Dee Why, and Jindabyne in NSW; Glenelg, SA; Coolangatta, QLD.

The chain started with the opening of their first store in Bondi in 2007. It opened its only Victorian store in Fitzroy, Melbourne, in 2015, but it closed its doors two years later.

Each of the venues is unique and is “designed and fit out different to the last, giving each space a unique personality, influenced heavily by its local environment,” according to the Beach Burrito Co website.

The Glenelg store made headlines in April 2021, when a mouse was filmed scurrying on a wall and floor.
