LONG BEACH, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball fell in straight sets (16-25, 13-25, 16-25) to Long Beach State on the road Saturday night. The results moves the Titans’ record to 1-18 overall and 0-10 in Big West play.
Fullerton hung around early in set one, with a Bianca Martinez and Ryleigh Garis block followed by an Aubrey Beaver kill tying the game at seven. Beaver notched another kill later in the set while Martinez added two more, but the Beach ran away with game one, 25-16.
The Titans took an early 8-6 lead in the second frame following a Garis dump kill and a block by Ketesia Hall and Laura Williams. Long Beach State later scored seven straight to go up 18-10 before Martinez stopped the run with a kill. The Beach went on to take the set, 25-13.
In the third set, Fullerton again took an early 6-5 lead following kills from Ameena Campbell and Williams and a solo block from Hall. Campbell and Williams tallied kills later in the set, and a solo Campbell stuff staved off a Long Beach State match-point opportunity. But the Beach won the third, 25-16, to take the match, 3-0.
The Titans return home next weekend for matches against Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara, first taking on the Mustangs on Friday, Oct. 27, at 6:00 p.m. PT.
