A woman who was allegedly murdered and whose body was found at the scene of a house fire south of Adelaide last week has been remembered as a “kind”, “loving” mum and an “amazing friend”.
Krystal Marshall, 38, was found dead at a home at Aldinga Beach on Friday afternoon.
Today, a 48-year-old man faced court in Christies Beach charged with her murder.
The man is known to the victim, but his name and image cannot be made public do a court ordered suppression.
His lawyer, Stephen Ey made no application for bail with his client remanded in custody until his next court hearing in February.
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 3:30pm on Friday, after smoke was spotted coming from the roof of the property on Barracoota Crescent.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and “when crews checked the home, they found the body of a 38-year-old woman”, police said.
Police have declared Ms Marshall’s death as a major crime and is calling for information from the public on her movements in the days leading up to her death.
Tributes to Ms Marshall have flowed on social media, with friends and family expressing shock and grief.
One person described her as someone who went “above and beyond to give her little girls anything they could ever want or need”, and said it was “absolutely heartbreaking” to hear of the death of “someone with such a kind [and] loving nature, who was always there for anyone that needed a friend or helping hand”.
“Gone way too young Krystal, you were an amazing friend and mother and person. RIP mate,” another tribute stated.
“You never know when the last time you’ll get to speak to someone and even though we hadn’t spoken in a while, you were a massive part of our lives and will be missed.”
A local dance company that described Ms Marshall as a long-time “valued and loved member” expressed its deepest sympathies for her family “during this time of unimaginable grief”.
“I cannot fathom this news. For now we support and hold those in need,” a tribute post stated on the group’s Facebook page.
Another person wrote that Krystal “leaves behind two beautiful daughters” who are “still coming to terms with the loss of their mum”.
